Time/Div

The "Time/Div" control
determines how long the electron beam
takes to move from left to right
of a division.
A "division" is one square on the display.
"Time/Div" controls the "time scale."
If "Time/Div" is set to "1mS" for example, it means that 1mS is
needed per square for the horizontal movement, i.e. 10mS for moving
the beam from left to right of the screen, as the
screen is divided into 10 divisions.
For a setting of 1mS, the observer sees an image
that seems to be continuous, non-flickering. In long "Time/Div"
settings, such as 20mS and 50mS, the movement of the beam becomes
visible.
In the simulation, long "Time/Div" settings can only be
displayed with some quality restrictions as the calculating power of Macromedia scripting language "Lingo" is not enough to perform
real-time calculations.

The "Time/Div"
control is made up of
two controls:
The large control points to the
values on the face of the instrument. These values are
accurate but if you want to adjust the time between the value
on the scale and the next higher value, the small control can
be turned clockwise.

With the small
control (located in the centre of the large control), a fine adjustment can be made.
To obtain the values in the face of the CRO, the small control must be
rotated fully anti-clockwise until it "clicks." |
